Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict

I LOVED this book. Seriously. I loved everything about it. The story was creative and the characters were great! I kind of feel like I am becoming a Jane Austen addict, even though my first J.A. book was only read a month or so ago. There is just something about that time period that is so romantic and captivating. It was interesting to hear all the not so romantic things about that time though. I never thought about what they did when they needed to use the bathroom, and I didn't realize ...

I like WWII stories. And I enjoyed reading how different people served and were affected by it. Some stories were better than others, depending on how I felt about the "character", but I will say that I agree that our grandparents generation (or older), do/did have something special about them in the way of just common courtesy, duty, and responsibility. Change in our society is inevitable but we could all learn some important lessons from our elders that could possibly make a big ...

What did everyone else think of Randy Pausch's book?
I liked it. It made me remember some things that I wanted to do when I was younger. It was a simple book, but inspiring because it was so plain and honest. It was definitely a quick read, once I finally got a copy from the library I read it in just a few hours. It made me sad to think about his wife and kids, but like he said in the book, at least he knew how much time he had left, and spent it well.

Thoughts on the Twilight series

I just finished reading the last book in the Twilight series, and I'm wondering what everyone else thought of the books.

I put off reading them for quite a long time, because pretty much everyone I talked to said it was a series that you would either love or hate. Well, that and the fact that when I picked up Twilight in the bookstore and read the blurb on the back of the book it made me want to gag. It was honestly the schmaltziest thing I had ever heard. Anyway.

I read the series. ...

I just finished reading A Little Princess and LOVED it! It was charming and lovely. Sara was such a lovable character- as were all the characters. It was the first "happy- upbeat" book I've read in so long that I just gobbled it up pretty much. We used to own the movie (starring Shirley Temple), when I was a little girl and I loved that too. I can't wait to watch the movie again now. Anyway, if anyone is looking for something cute, and fun to read you should try it out... it's ...

First of all, I really enjoyed Foers style of writing. The search for the lock kept me engrossed. Several times I found myself relating to Oskar in different ways. *I wish I had made notes throughout the book while reading it so I could point out exactly where- but I didn't.* Some of Oskars thoughts were draining and bleak, I felt so bad for the poor kid. I kept thinking- it has got to be so depressing to be an atheist- too. Most the time I was depressed with every characters story- Thomas ...
